On Sunday, during the 3rd phase of FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup qualifying round of the 6th edition, Uruguay 2018, our U-17, ranked 2nd in Group A our Grenadières https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24619-haiti-flash-our-grenadieres-u-17-in-the-semifinals-of-the-uruguay-2018-world-cup-video.html faced in the semifinal on the lawn of the International Management Group Academy (IMG Academy) in Bradenton, Florida the Stars and Stripes of the United States.

The match started well as Melchie Daèlle Dumornay aka "Corventina" opened the scoring for Haiti [1-0] on a free kick at 13'. Disconcerted, the Stars and Stripes find a fault in the defense of the Grenadières and Sunshine Fontes at the 32' scored the goal of equality for the USA [1-1]

At half-time the score remains unchanged [1-1]

After the break, our young Grenadières start very badly the second period by conceding 2 goal of Stars and Stripes in the first 5 minutes, the first by Mia Fishel at 49 '[1-2] and Sunshine Fontes at 50' which scored twice [1-3] for the Americans.

Despite the efforts of our Grenadiers, they do not find an opening in the regulatory time to raise the mark. In extra time "Corventina" finally found an opening and scored a second goal 90 + 2 'for Haiti [2-3] in front of impotent American goalkeeper Angelina Anderson. However, this return is too late and the final score remains [2-3] in favor of the USA.

With this defeat, our young Grenadières miss the chance to be qualified in the final, however, the two semi-finalists unhappy: Haiti and Canada (who lost to Mexico 2-1) still have a chance to finish the tournament with a smile, since the winner of the match for 3rd place will win the third ticket directly qualifying for the Uruguay 2018 World Cup.
